Upcoming Group Trips: –
This fascinating trek to Goechala in Kanchendzonga National Park, is a must-do for all serious experienced trekkers. As they say, Goechala is the closest you can get to Mt. Kanchendzonga without climbing the peak! It’s an arduous trek with the main challenges being long distances to cover on many days, and rapid altitude gain. The stunning views of Kanchendzong, Pandim, Rathong, Kabru Dome etc, a lovely high-altitude glacial lake (Samiti), and rhododendron blooms during the spring season ensure that your efforts are amply rewarded.
The first and the last night will be in a boutique 3-star property in Yuksom. Accommodation will be in tents on all the other days
The accommodation in Yuksom will have proper attached bathrooms & toilets. We will pitch toilet tents and provide a toilet seat in all the other places during the trek. In some places (Dzongri, for example), there are pay-and-use Indian-style common toilets too.
Having a proper bath is not recommended as it will be too cold during the trek. Our staff can provide some warm water for freshening up.
No, you will only need to carry a backpack in order to carry some water, some eats, personal medicines etc. We ponies or dzos to move your luggage between the stops.
None of the camps are connected to the grid. However, they have basic solar lighting. Please carry a torch or headlamp with extra batteries. Do carry a power bank for charging your phones.
Water is safe to drink. However as a precaution, please carry personal water purifiers (Aquaguard and LifeStraw are two popular brands available online), or water purification tablets.
None of the places except Tshokha and Phedang (in one particular spot!) have mobile connectivity.
Goechala is a high-altitude trek where you will be ascending to an altitude of 4550 m. Also, due to the locations of the designated campsites, the gain in altitude is quite rapid. Therefore, it is important to have a good understanding of altitude sickness, the medication to carry etc.
Yes, it is possible to reduce the number of days. It is even possible to skip Dzongri completely and only do the trek to Goechala. Get in touch with your requirements.
