The Pindari Glacier trek is easily the most popular glacier trek in the country. It draws numerous trekking enthusiasts during the season and we firmly believe it is a must-do trek. Itinerary

  • Day 1Your city - Kathgodam

    Reach Kathgodam by 11.30 am. One convenient option is to take Kathgodam Shatabdi express. Dep from New Delhi – 6 am, Arrival at Kathgodam – 11.30 am.

    Alternatively, one can fly to Pantnagar airport which is about 30 km from Kathgodam.

  • Day 1Kathgodam - Garurabanj

    It’s about a 5-hour drive to a heritage property in Garurabanj, the destination for the day. This place is quite close to the famous Jageshwar temple, so it may be possible to visit the temple in case you reach Garurabanj before it gets dark Overnight in a beautiful heritage property there.

  • Day 2Garurabanj - Khati (2230 m)

    The route from Garurabanj to Khati is via Bageshwar. Be prepared for a bumpy ride for the last one hour or so! Khati is counted among the most beautiful villages in Asia. Post lunch go on a tour of this interesting place. Overnight in a lodge.

  • Day 3Khati (2230 m) - Dwali (2600 m)

    The trail from Khati to Dwali follows the Pindar river. It is a beautiful trail through a dense forest of rhodendrons, oaks, maple, walnuts etc. The longish but moderate 12 km trek on this day involves a descent up to the bridge across river Kafni and then a somewhat steep ascent up to Dwali. The last stretch of about 1.5 km is along a rocky trail on the banks of Pindar river (the main trail was destroyed by a landslide a few years ago). Overnight in a tourist rest house.

  • Day 4Dwali (2600 m) - Phurkiya (3250 m)

    The trek to Phurkiya is a gradual ascent of only 5 km. In the early part of the season it could involve crossing patches of hard snow. Overnight in a tourist rest house.

  • Day 5Phurkiya - Zero Point (3650 m) - Phurkiya

    It is best to start very early in the morning towards Pindari to view the glacier and the surrounding mighty peaks in their full glory.
    Mount Nandakhat and Baljuri are among the prominent peaks that are visible along the route. The 7 km trek to the zero point (at around 3650 m) should take about 3 hours. After exploring the area, retrace the route back to Phurkiya.

  • Day 6Phurkiya - Khati

    The 16 km trek back to Khati is longish but doable as it is mostly downhill.

  • Day 7Khati - Kausani

    Drive from Khati to Kausani (about 5 hours). Enjoy lovely views of the mountains from this picturesque hill station. Accommodation will be in a comfortable resort.

  • Day 8Kausani - Kathgodam

    Post breakfast, check out and embark on the 4-hour drive back to Kathgodam.
